About Xtracta
Xtracta was founded in 2010 by Jonathan Spence in Auckland, New Zealand. The company was born from a simple frustration: the document extraction software available at the time was slow, expensive, and required specialist engineers to build templates for every document layout.
Xtracta took a different approach. Instead of templates, the engine learns from the documents themselves. It reads layout, language, context, and structure. It has been learning at production scale for over 14 years, processing millions of documents for businesses in every major market. In 2024, the team rolled out production-ready deep learning transformer models, the biggest single improvement to the engine since launch.
